Glossary
- Testicles/Testes (plural) – Commonly known as balls are two sperm producing glands located below the penis.
- Scrotum – The scrotum is made up of skin and muscles which holds and contains the testicals also known as a ball sack.
- Foreskin – Foreskin covers the glans of the penis and retracts during intercourse. See here for more foreskin information.
- Pubic Hair – Pubic hair is grown during puberty and surrounds the male and female genitals.
- Cervix – A part of the uterus which opens into the vagina. The cervix also allows blood flow out of the vagina during menstruation.
- Anus – Where faeces are expelled from the digestive system, also known as your bottom.
- STD – Sexually Transmitted Disease – An illness transmitted through sexual contact, also known as an STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection) in the UK.
- Condom – A method of protection from STD’s and also impregnation. It is a sheath like rubber which is worn on the penis during sexual intercourse.
- Femidom – The female version of a condom, for use between two females.
- Masturbation – The act of stimulation of the genitals.
- Frenulum – An elastic band of tissue connecting the glans to the foreskin of the penis, commonly known as a banjo string.
